Lorraine Cosgrove is a freelance photographer who resides in the town of Simsbury. When she moved from Bristol to Simsbury 18 years ago, she quickly fell in love with the natural beauty of the area. But it wasn’t until her retirement in 2012 (after 30 years of working in information technology initially as a computer programmer then ten years as a project manager) that she found the time to develop her photography skills to really capture all the beauty and wonder of the Valley and her other favorite places to visit such as Cape Cod. Lorraine shares, ‘With my camera in hand, I find that every one of life’s adventures offers me the opportunity to capture that moment forever – whether it’s a moment spent watching a colorful hot air balloon ascend slowly into the clouds at dawn, a moment spent watching giant humpback whales as they breach off the coast of Cape Cod, a moment walking through one of the many colorful gardens at Elizabeth Park, or a moment spent taking in breathtaking views from atop Fort Hill in Eastham, MA (Cape Cod), Montjuic in Barcelona, Montmartre in Paris, Monserrat in Catalonia, the Colosseum in Rome, or a lighthouse in Jupiter, FL’.
This is Lorraine’s fourth year as a member of the Simsbury Camera Club where she is presently a member of the executive board as their public relations and communications coordinator. Lorraine is also a member of the Photography Society of America and the Connecticut Association of Photographers.
In addition to attending various programs and offered through the Simsbury Camera Club and the New England Camera Club Council, Lorraine has taken numerous classes and hands on workshops from the Cape Cod Art Association as well as many professional photographers in CT, NY, and MA, including Bob Singer, John Tunney, Lisa Cuchara, Mark Bowie and Fred LeBlanc – who have each influenced Lorraine’s photography skills for capturing digital images and processing them using various photography software.
Lorraine invites you to visit her newly launched website at LorraineCosgrovePhotography.com to view her initial portfolio of images from the Farmington Valley, Cape Cod and Elizabeth Park, with many more to come!
